Today we’re going to talk about the idea: Can you lose weight without experiencing restriction? Hmmm?

 


 

 

There’s no denying that if you want to lose weight, you will have to make some significant changes in your life—with both food and exercise. But THIS isn’t restriction.

 

Repeat after me: It’s NOT restriction.

 

Losing weight requires CHANGE—not restriction. It becomes restriction when we get it in our head that we don’t like something.

 

When you’re trying to lose weight, you will absolutely be doing things differently. It will be challenging to you because it’s all brand new, so, it’s going to take a little more time. And sometimes, you’ll compare what your eating and doing to someone else’s… and it won’t seem fair sometimes. But that’s only in your head.

 

It only becomes restriction when you do it unwillingly.

 

Like, when you don’t actually want to be on a diet or you don’t actually want to lose weight. It also happens when you see it as a punishment. For example, maybe when you were a child, your parents put you on a diet. That can cause a lot of messed up thoughts and feelings about trying to lose weight.

 

If it’s not something you’re wanting to do for yourself, that will absolutely cause the restriction mindset. It only becomes a restriction or a deprivation (or a sacrifice) if you don’t like it.

 

So, how do you experience weight loss without restriction?

 

  1. Go into it willingly.
  2. This is something you know you want and need for yourself.
  3. You must also learn how to like those actions.
  4. You turn your “I can’t eat that” into “I don’t want to eat that.”
  5. Change your “I have to go exercise” into “I want to go exercise” or “I get to go exercise.”

 

I know it all sounds very elementary, but that’s at what frequency our brain is operating sometimes when we’re thinking about pleasure and pain. We need to just shift our mindset.
