This week's edition of 1 Minute With Naomi comes from a question one of the members in the 8 Great Ways To Lose Weight community/program asked. I know this is a struggle so many have when they want to lose weight but feel like they're going to die during exercise! Watch the video here:
Do you give up on exercise at the first signs of discomfort or fatigue?
It's no wonder you dread exercise and feel like you're going to die… you've only allowed yourself to experience the hard part.
It's a very valid feeling that a lot of us have… "If I keep pushing, I'm going to die!" Read my other article on this here: Help! I'm Scared To Run Out of Breath When I Exercise!
I remember what it was like when I weighed 300 pounds and struggled with trying to like exercise. I absolutely hated it.
I didn't believe anyone who told me that exercise created energy.
And maybe that's what's holding you back, too. Sometimes you have to experience it for yourself to know it's true.
As a runner, I know that those first 10-20 minutes of a workout are difficult. Your body needs to get warmed up and your mind if fighting you that whole time. But once you're able to push past that, it's great!
My running friends and I often joke that some people ONLY run or workout for 15 minutes and they completely miss out on the "runner's high" or the energy one gets from a challenging workout.
That's not fair to you.
Can you push just this once past that initial discomfort? Push for 5 minutes longer? You can take a break when you're done.
I'm not saying this to be an asshole, I'm saying it because I want you to experience what so many of us love– the energy from exercising.
